POSITION SUMMARY: The Host Runner / Hostess Runner is an integral part of the front-of-house team, responsible for greeting guests, recognizing regulars and VIPs, seating guests, assisting the lead host/hostess, and managing coat checks. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional hospitality.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):

• Greet guests warmly as they enter the restaurant, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
• Recognize regular customers and VIP guests, offering personalized attention and service.
• Seat guests at appropriate tables based on reservation status and seating preferences.
• Assist the lead host/hostess in managing the reservation book and optimizing table turnover.
• Coordinate with servers and other staff members to ensure smooth seating and service operations.
• Manage coat checks, ensuring guests' belongings are securely stored and returned promptly.
• Provide support and assistance to guests as needed, including answering questions and addressing concerns.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the host/hostess station and lobby area.
• Uphold high standards of professionalism and hospitality at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Previous experience in a host/hostess or customer service role preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide friendly and attentive service to guests.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Genuine warmth and hospitality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry items such as menus and coats.
• Manual dexterity for handling paperwork and operating electronic devices.
• Stamina to handle the demands of a busy restaurant environment.

COMPENSATION: The base pay range for this position is minimum wage - plus tips. Actual pay may vary based on factors such as experience and performance.
